Hi friends! I hope you’re having a good week! Today I wanted to share some real-life things that have been bringing me joy this spring!
Latest Audio book: Little Fires Everywhere
I recently listened to this book (big audio book fan over here) and I loved it! I read/listen to a lot of non-fiction books because I love learning about health, faith etc, but sometimes I just need a good story to dive into. If you’re looking for an entertaining summer or beach read I’d highly recommend this one!
It’s an easy listen (or read) about two families living in suburban Cleveland and what happens when different lifestyles and backgrounds collide together. Read the full summary here.
Eating With Grace Podcast
My RD friend Christine, from Nutritious Notions, started a podcast!! She talks with guests about the crossover between faith, intuitive eating, and the culture we live in. I’ve loved all the episodes she’s posted these first few weeks! Her guests are both inspiring and refreshing. If these topics interest you, definitely check it out! I’m excited to be a guest on the podcast soon too! Check out the previous episodes here.
It’s getting HOT here in Virginia but I’m not complaining because I’ll take warm weather over the cold any day. As the weather has been warming up I’ve loved hiking around Charlottesville, it’s one of my favorite things about living in this area. We have access to some awesome trails and I don’t want to take them for granted, even if it is a little toasty outside! It’s been so nice to just get a little fresh air and take in the views from around Charlottesville.
Marci Evans’ Nutrition Counseling for Eating Disorders training
If you’re a dietitian interested in working with eating disorders/disordered eating, I can not recommend this training enough. It was AMAZING . I finished the training earlier this spring and can’t stop talking about it. Marci’s training is incredibly comprehensive and sets you up to be able to start working comfortably with this population. She provides tons of handouts and research to along with the modules. I have been referencing the information from the training almost daily since I finished. It’s totally worth the investment! Check it out here.
June trip to the Outer Banks
If you’ve been following the blog for a while now you might remember the trip my friends and I took to the Outer Banks last year. It was SO much fun to get away and spend some time at the beach for a few days. Since we had such an awesome time last year, we decided to go back again! We’re heading to the beach in a few weeks and I can’t wait!! Read about our trip from last year here.
Community garden plot
Dan and I got a little plot at a community garden this year and it’s been so fun getting it started! I don’t exactly have a green thumb but it’s been cool to be able to learn more about gardening and try growing our own fruits and veggies. We planted some watermelon, cucumbers, spaghetti squash, tomatoes, zucchini and bok choy. We’re hoping at least some of them grow but I’ve got my fingers crossed for the watermelon especially! I’ll be sure to update you guys on how things are coming along throughout the summer!
Check out those little watermelon sprouts!!
What are some things bringing you joy lately?? Feel free to share in the comments!
